Two weekends ago, I hosted a Favorite Things party. I saw a picture on Pinterest that inspired me.
The basic premise is: choose one of your favorite things that costs no more than six dollars. Bring five of that one item to the party to give away to others. Everyone does this, so you will also go home with five gifts. Well, it turned out that some people brought 5 of the same item. Some people brought 5 different items. It all worked out fine though.
Upon arrival, everyone wrote their name down on five pieces of paper and put them into a bowl. To get things started, I kicked it off by explaining what my items were and why I chose them. I was one of the ones that threw in a little variety. I chose 2 different favorite things, three of one item and two of the other: 1)Mrs. Meyers Clean Day Lemon Verbena Countertop spray and 2) cutie bowls. I drew names from the bowl to see who would get my choices. Once I finished, I chose one of the five who received my items and we just continued down the line until everyone had presented their favorite things. It was pretty entertaining and fun.
I provided drinks and dessert and everyone brought something to eat (and/or a bottle of wine). I made Nantucket Punch with lemonade, cranberry juice, ginger ale, and vodka w/blueberries and lemon slices. I also made a berry trifle, but neglected to take a picture of it.
And here’s my loot at the end of the night!
Have you thrown any parties lately? Any fun themes or yummy foods? Do share!

I want to host a favorite things party too!
I love a good party! And love this idea! I’ll have to do one of those!
That party idea is super fun and original…and what a great way to share ideas about other people’s neat things.
