I got a sheepskin rug from Ikea. They have both real (the RENS and the LUDDE which are listed on the website) and faux (the Oleby which is not listed on the website but is in the store).
It’s so super versatile. It works equally well draped across both furniture and floors. I layered it over a chair in the living room.
And then over the ottoman in the living room, and then over a different chair in the living room…
and then…. and then…. and then….. I wanted to promptly place two on each side of the bed in our bedroom. Promptly being the operative word. How wonderful for thy feet to touch such luxuriousness first thing daily. I wanted to put them there RIGHT AWAY. But alas, I only had one.
Needless to say, OMG. Love it. I know this is old news to some. I’m late to the game. But wait, not really. I had a sheepskin car seat cover in Bijou (my old car, I name my cars) five years ago. That sheepskin was like BUTTA! Smooth and soft. It was so fabulous. So I’m just late to the whole sheepskin-in-the-house game. I get it now – the soft texture and the layered look.
I used the opportunity to go back and look at inspiration pictures and I’ll share two with you. Unlike these pictures, I did not try it in the dining room. This first one just struck me as odd.

But this second pic stuck me as ah! Even though I didn’t like it in the setting above, I am all for the dining room setting below.

It has to be because 1) trendy or not, I dig ghost chairs. 2) the sheepskins are smaller and lighter in color. 3.) the table is rustic.
