The other day, I saw these Soale placemats in Ikea. They’re lightweight and made out of water hyacinth. When I saw them I thought they had alot of potential as something other than placemats. They could work to create your own version of art. You can use them as is and simply frame them. Or you could spray paint them white (or any other color) before framing. Or they could be cut into another shape. They’re thin enough to cut with scissors. They’re a little small so you could even attach several to each other. You could also take inspiration from the fabric backings they had in the store to add a color.
They kinda reminded me of these from Bryn Alexandra’s blog:

P.S. I also saw placemats in Z Gallerie that look just like the ones Ikea sells. They were a few dollars more though.
If you painted them white, they would look awesome as mats for a black and white photo! Tons of possibilities… I wish I had an ikea around here that i could peruse on a weekly basis!
Great idea!
Darn I miss living close to an Ikea. I used to be able to get all sorts of ideas like that before we relocated. Awesome idea. Love your website. I stumbled accross it while I was looking for some ideas to decorate my front door. Keep up the good work.

I thought that was a fishing net at first! When I saw it I was like “is Ikea selling fishing equipment now.” lol I really liked this post. I’ve been coming to this website for the past three days and I think your ideas are great.
Thanks for reading!
I gotta get over to Ikea. Never been, amazingly!!
