Previously, I shared the story behind our new front door and showed you pictures of the unpainted door here. Since then you’ve likely been waiting on pins and needles for the big mystery of which color we chose to be revealed. Oh no? You weren’t waiting with baited breath?
It came down to a choice between three colors. My affinity for red is well known by friends and family. And I’ve always loved red doors. Unfortunately, A wasn’t feeling red. He wanted dark green. Sound familiar? The old door was dark green. No, thanks. I tried to float the turquoise color by him and he REALLY wasn’t feeling the turquoise idea. When I proposed yellow, he didn’t say no. He said it was better than red. Deal. I considered it a compromise.
So, here it is in all it’s happy glory:
It looks great from the street.
We both really like it! Here is another quick before and after.
The paint color is Martha Stewart’s Cornbread matched to Behr’s Paint & Primer in One. And why wait for more door paint color revelations? We we’re on a door painting roll, so we went ahead and painted the interior side of the door too.
Black is back! We like how it goes with the little black accents in the foyer, like the banister posts and the frames on the walls. – see more about the fiasco here. What are your thoughts? What color is your front door? What color would you love to have? What holds you back from going for it?

I like it!!
I love it. when I saw the header for your blog, I was like wait, isn’t that her front door. Only wished my spousal unit was as easy to compromise as yours.
Aw thanks! Keep working on him. 🙂
who would have thought of a yellow door? that’s a bold and somehow not tacky move! love your designs!
Love the yellow! How much fun. We just painted our door red and it wasn’t a very fun experience. I also love the black on the inside. I’ve been thinking about doing that.
LOVE this! Yellow is such a great color anyway, but this adds so much character to the front of your house.
I absolutely love the yellow front door! Great color choice too, its warm and inviting but still looks fresh and modern! Perfect!
I love Martha’s cornbread color! It’s just so happy and warm. We used it to paint an old dresser (you can see it here). I accidentally bought a gallon so we have a LOT of left over paint. I’m currently looking for where else I can use it!
