A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I finally settled on a pair of lamps in our master bedroom. That was a journey because I’d actually tried several combinations of ‘trying to make it work’. My first step in the journey was to change out the shades for the lamps I already had (one I still like and the other was just ugly). Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of the ugliest lamp but it was a wicker & metal base lamp that I got for just a few bucks a long time ago. The shades on the two lamps were traditional and bell shaped so I replaced them with more modern drum shades that I bought from Goodwill. But then in my effort to purge purge purge the things I don’t love, I got rid of that one ugly lamp and thus had a shade without a lamp.
So, I took this shade…
…and this lamp (that had a shade that was too-small-and-wrong-for the room)
and created a new look. I just placed the first shade directly on top of the smaller shade. No assembly required. Suddenly, that $5 modern lamp, that wasn’t quite right for the room, fit in much better.
I stuck the shade on top so I didn’t have to store it somewhere else. I love when things work out like that. Have you solved any dilemmas with easy fixes lately?

Love it.
I don’t think it gets any easier or peasier than this project! Amazing how a lampshade can make such a big difference …
Thanks for linking it up!
