I picked up a few paperwhite bulbs in Target a few weeks ago and then again (for half price!) the day after Christmas. Paperwhites are part of the daffodil family and this is my first time growing them. I think it’s neat that they don’t even need soil. They can be planted in almost any kind of medium that will support their roots. That allows them to be planted in unconventional containers. Since I already had a good potting medium, along with rocks, I went ahead and used them. I planted a few bulbs in the silver, revere bowl I got from Scott’s awhile back and it’s nice to see their progress in just a few weeks!
I was happy to use a recent anniversary gift, an engraved vase, when I planted more bulbs today.
Bulbs are easy enough to handle and it will be so nice to have fragrant, bright blooms during winter! Are you expecting any indoor blooms this winter?

Planted 5 paper white bulbs in one container – three have bloomed and 2 are still tiny! Oh well, 66% is better than nothing!

Agreed! 🙂
Looks like you have a green thumb. I never heard of that bulb as we planted bulbs at our other house and yes they do well and the always the first blooms in the early spring as well.
I don’t think I have a green thumb, you can see the only houseplants I have here. I think I just barely take care of things that are very hardy and tolerant.
good idea. what’s their longevity? they look good in the organization blog. i never know what i will find when i check your blog. lots to choose from & projects to try. like the variety.
