I recently created a piece of word art. It didn’t come out perfectly. I had to sand it and go back over the words with paint, but I still like it. I also made a few updates to some old pieces to add art to the new kitchen.
Here’s where I ended up hanging the “comida, te amo” (food, I love you) sign.
But, wait. Look at that door! Yup, the door to the laundry room has gone black. Check out that same wall from before the kitchen makeover.
I took those brown letters and painted them metallic silver to hang on the other side of the room.
I looked around and realized I’ve totally accessorized with words. And they make me smile. I have a pin board dedicated to sayings and printed out two I thought would be appropriate in a kitchen. I did the same thing in the foyer with the inspiration wall. And it’s so easy to change things out whenever I want to try something different.
I originally bought those white frames (from Marshall’s) for the master bedroom redo but ended up not using them there. Have you placed any of your favorite sayings around the house? How do you display them?

Ooh…love love love the black door. I love the cool calm grays, clean whites and stark contracts with black that are running throughout the kitchen.
Thanks!
Well done!!!!!! I must say the black door is different. You are creative. You asked if we have a place for our creativity. I just hung 3 pieces of silk ribbon in frames in my bathroom. Sure sparked that little room up so am encouraged to finish two more pieces for the other wall which will be larger because the wall space is larger. We did some changes though in the sewing and bedroom over the weekend. Moved the music stuff in the bedroom and moved the thread to the sewing room. Doesn’t that make sense. After 5 years we think so. Also pulled weeds as it rained the night before which made weed pulling easier.
I love all your kitchen artwork! I can’t believe it is the same space as in the before photos.

This is such a great project! I hope you will come link it up at the Pinworthy Project Link Party going on now over on my blog, Just Us Four.
This looks great! What were the colors you used for the bluish grey wall, the black door and the trim? I would love to replicate the colors in my office if you don’t mind.
Sure. There’s a couple of posts on the kitchen that include paint color info, and then I have this post that lists the main: https://b.designocd.com/2012/07/paint-colors/
But to make it easy, here you go: walls: Benjamin Moore Gray Wisp (at half tint) door: Behr Black trim: Behr Ultra White
