I’m back with another room to share. My parents house has one large living room that is a good size but has to serve several functions. The front door opens up directly into the space. It serves as a place to receive guests, a place to relax and watch tv, and a place to work on projects. My mom has managed to position furniture in such a way so as to create distinct, separate spaces all contained within one room.
The bombe chest designates the front entry way.
Although this seating area is in the same room as the tv, the seating arrangement is not oriented towards the television. There is more seating on the other side of the room that is positioned to view the tv.
And next to the tv, there’s a desk and chair to create a small workspace. My mom is a big DIYer and recently added the wall molding on the top herself.
Built in shelves.
So, what’s your favorite idea from this room? I love the wall molding, such an easy thing to do for a big impact. I’d also love to have built-ins! Maybe I could add them to my home office one day….

Good ideas on how to use one large room. I like the area that is not oriented to the t.v. it is warm and inviting and looks like a great place to just sit and talk or even read.
Lovely pictures. You take really nice pictures. I might hire you. (:-
Pretty stuff…love to see area layout by the TV….
Your mom’s home is beautiful it warms my heart and made me smile to see those books on her shelf, we own the same ones here in Detroit! Felt like I know her, hope my sister is well!
Aw, thanks for commenting sis. I will share with her!
