Last weekend, four of us went to St. Simons Island for a quick girls getaway. St. Simons is an island off the Georgia coast, right next to Jekyll Island and Sea Island. I’d never been before and thoroughly enjoyed it. We stayed in the Ocean Lodge, which was named one of the top 25 hotels in the country, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone going for a visit. The Italian, French, and Mediterranean decor is definitely a little more ornate than I prefer in my own home, but it is still very lovely and luxurious.
Check out the decor in the lobby:
The rooms are full suites with 1 bedroom, a living room, and a kitchenette with bar seating. It’s a small property, there are only 15 rooms on 4 floors. The top floor has the best views of the water, which is a block over. We stayed on the 3rd floor and still had a view of the beach to the side of our balcony.
All bedrooms have king size beds (which are super comfortable).
Even if the style choices differ from your preference, there were small lessons to observe in the rooms too. There was no carpeting, the floors were all travertine tile, but the rooms felt warm and cozy with the use of rugs. Even the bathrooms had small wool rugs at the foot of the vanity instead of a standard ‘bath mat’.
Across the street, the decor looked more like this:
Have you ever been to the islands on the southeast coast of the U.S.? Or any of the top hotels in the country?
