It’s summer, so it makes sense to update the fireplace right? We actually use our fireplace often during the cooler months. Because of that, our fireplace usually looks like it does here in this picture from last year, all year round.
For some reason, we just don’t seem to be on top of keeping it clean after winter. It’s a shame. So, it’s June and I’ve just cleaned it out from this past winter’s use. Sometime ago, I spray painted the walls with Rustoleum’s High Heat paint, but I decided it was time for a new coat.
I’d actually like to upgrade several things about this fireplace (those vents are ugly and the metal mesh needs replacing!) but for now I just spray painted the walls and floor and added my new addition: a large faux clam shell. One of the vendors at Scott’s (Marianna Lane Interiors) had one as a succulent garden container in her booth.
I used mine to spruce up the fireplace, at least until the seasons change and it’s time to use it again. Definitely an improvement!
Have you updated your fireplace or mantel for summer?

I love it. I need to do the same to my fire place.
