I use my phone’s Memo app to keep lists. I have one list for things I look for at Goodwill. It helps to list out the things I may need (or want) and am willing to get secondhand to keep me focused in the store. That way, when I stop in periodically, I look around generally but I have specific items in mind. Currently on the list: beer glasses, clear glass plates, and wine glasses. I think glassware is a great thing to look for at thrift stores if you aren’t particular.
I’d actually reduced the regularity of my Goodwill adventures but this month began stopping in regularly again. Just look what I’ve found:
I have a rubber plant in the kitchen that has been in the same plain black plastic pot it came home from the store in for awhile. I found this woven planter for $1.20.
And check out these stemless wine glasses. I have a set (from Pier 1) but saw two of these and picked them up. They have an internal section for the liquid. This is so perfect for chilled white wine! When you hold the glass, your hands won’t warm the wine. 77 cents each.
While orange is not my favorite color, I did take a lesson from the styling for the Better Homes and Gardens shoot, and decided to have a splash of color along with books on the corner kitchen shelves. I picked up two books from Goodwill for $5.
I just added ‘lamps’ to the list. I’m redoing the office and have given myself a challenge to stay under a certain amount. So I’ll have to find lamps on the cheap. Have you gone Goodwill hunting? Any good finds?

i think it’s great that you decided to add color! i thought the orange was great in the shoot. i do like the basic clean look you had, though, so either way works. i guess you can switch it up sometimes to give yourself a new feel! do a turquoise theme for a few months and then switch and do another color! that’s the beauty of the colors you chose for your kitchen!
