We store our modem, wireless router, phone, and wireless printer in the office. All of that equipment requires a lot of wires and prior to the mini-makeover, there was no organization and everything was just sort of a jumbled mess on and behind the desk. It was a visible jumbled mess, which to me, is worse than the mess you can’t see.
I picked up some wire clip-type-things from Home Depot to run the wires out of sight along the horizontal and vertical pieces of the metal desk.
I had a few Kassett magazine storage boxes already and decided to use one to hide the router and cable modem. I stood them vertically in the box. It’s not the neatest looking from the top down, but from the desk view it sure beats them sitting out cluttering the surface of the desk.
Have you figured out a system to contain electronic clutter? I have seen some creative solutions to hide equipment and wires out there!

Our solution….put the modem and router in the laundry room with the
printer. That keeps it TOTALLY out of sight!

wouldnt that constrict the airflow and cause it to overheat and even possibly burn out?
Nope. The entire back is is open to airflow.
Aren’t you afraid the router and cable modem will overheat in that enclosed container?
It’s not closed. It’s open and it has been fine for a few years now.
