A few weeks ago, I popped into Fort Lauderdale to visit family. Just as in the past, (see thoughts from Las Vegas, the Highlands, and St. Simons), I couldn’t help but notice a few lessons from the hotels we stayed in.
This woven stool is so cute. It reminds me of the popular ceramic garden stool but with nice texture. It could be used with a tray as a side table or just as extra seating.
While I don’t love the abundance of the peachy color, I am a big fan of saltillo tile (the light, orange-ish tile), especially when it’s stained a dark, rich color and it’s protected with a glossy sealer. I love the sheen.
I have been thinking about some sort of DIY headboard in our guest bedroom at home so I think that’s why I tuned into the headboards in the hotel room. The headboard is a piece of finished, stained wood affixed directly to the wall. There are a variety of ways you could play on that idea to create your own customized headboard.
Have you been on any trips lately? Or do you have any coming up? Here’s to a great long weekend!

That textured stool is so cool! I’ve see lots of garden stools but this one stands out. We are planning a trip to San Francisco for our 5 year anniversary in October. I am looking forward to all the photography opportunities!
How fun. San Francisco is lovely!
