Dipped Bowl

I am a fan of the dipped furniture trend, so when I picked up this inexpensive wooden bowl (see it before here) from Goodwill, along with a few other items,  I decided it would be my guinea pig and my first foray into the dipped world.

I must not be that adept at spray painting because this wasn’t as easy as I thought it should be.  I actually had do it twice because the first try ended up with problems. On the first try,  some spray paint got underneath the tape, so the line of demarcation was not as clean as I wanted it to be.  I ended up sanding the bowl, re-taping the sections off and doing it all over again.   I used white and metallic silver (Rustoleum) spray paint to create the look.   I sprayed the entire bowl white first, and then taped off a section, just about 1/3 of the bowl exterior, covered the white part of the bowl with taped down newspaper, and sprayed the exposed section with the metallic silver.

The bowl is food safe so I left the inside as is.  I like the contrast of the rich wood tone.

Wow, I already have a collection of Revere bowls (not to mention a few others).  I may need to establish a no-more-bowls-policy when I’m out and about.  What do you think? Are you a fan of the dipped effect?  Have you transformed anything with spray paint lately?
