Every month I try to share a floral arrangement used to spruce up a space in the house. Flowers are just cheery and it’s nice to enjoy some color and greenery in your home. Sometimes, I get flowers from the grocery store. In that case, I always look for the clearance cart (yup, flowers go on sale too). Other times, I make an arrangement using blooms from the yard. Last month, I was even able to use the succulent planters I found on clearance at Kroger as table centerpieces for a party.
This pink bouquet (under $5) graced the window in the kitchen for about two weeks. I didn’t do much to the arrangement, just trimmed the length of the stems and placed in one of my go-to clear vases. This vase has a small opening that holds the stems in place. I’ve been drawn to pink more lately and have none in the house. I’m even thinking of adding pink curtains to the guest room.
Speaking of pink, in addition to pretty blooms, I also welcomed in a few new plants, one of which came in a pink container. They were all inexpensive and will last much longer than cut flowers (hopefully!). (See more about our houseplants here)
I just love the shape of the leaves on this succulent, the paddle plant. I found it at Home Depot. It’s been hanging out in the kitchen where the natural light is brightest.
This cute, little sedum plant was on sale for $1 at Kroger. It requires full sun, which I don’t have much of indoors, but even if it only lasts a few weeks, at that price, it’s okay.
I’ve seen tall fiddle leaf figs in designer rooms quite a bit and always thought they required ‘full sun’ (which is different than ‘bright light’). They kind of remind me of the rubber plant I already have (and have not killed) so I wasn’t surprised to learn they are also part of the ficus family. They seem to require similar care to the rubber plant so I’m hoping it will flourish. I got this one at Ikea for $12.99. In line with the price, it’s not a full grown tree. It’s small, but that’s okay. I just placed it in that woven basket I already had, but I want to find a nice pot for it.
Have you spruced up your home with flowers or other greenery lately?
