The Nate Berkus collection at Target debuted in stores last week and includes a faux tortoise shell. It comes in three colors: cream, gold, and green. I picked up one in cream and I am loving the lacquer finish on his version. It’s so glossy!
It’s currently on display in the desk area of the living room (on the wall behind the branches), but things like this can easily move so who knows where it will end up.
Check out the $900 version Neiman Marcus sells and a few others in action.

What do you think? Do you give tortoise shell decor a thumbs up or thumbs down?

I’m loving it too. Maybe will get it for my son’s room. We used to have a real tortoise shell which I found at my grandma’s farm as a kid. Don’t even know where it is now. 🙁
I’d give the tortoise shell two thumbs up because 1) no turtles were harmed in the process, only resin. 2) Nate has made them at a price point that makes it easy to experiment with new concepts. Not so sure about the NM price tag. OUCH!!
I recently bought the mustard color for a client’s family room. Sherry Hart also used it for our Room Service Atlanta 2012 service project. Looks amazing! Check it out on her blog when you get a chance!
I saw that! The Room Service rooms turned out great!
I love it….but then I love all eclectic things! I may have to pick up one of those.
