We’ve hosted a few dinners and lunch this month. For the past two events, I asked A to pick up flowers along with the other things he was getting at the grocery store. The first time, he returned with three bunches of tulips which I grouped together in a clear vase to serve as a centerpiece for the kitchen table.
First, I layered the white tablecloth with a piece of leftover burlap (from making the headboard) to create a runner. I sprinkled a few fall leaves from the yard over the burlap and placed the tulips in the middle.
Initially, the tulips kind of appeared as if they were shooting in different directions but a few days later, I changed the water and snipped off the end of the stems and they stood straight up again. Well, most of the them did. There were still a few stragglers.
The second time around, he returned with three dozen red roses so I grouped them together in a square vase (engraved with our monogram) to use as the centerpiece in my silver tablescape. I collected various mercury glass and silver toned pieces from around the house, along with some silver tinsel, and layered the pieces on top of two black napkins over a white tablecloth. I love sparkle and shine so it was right up my alley! The items were all a great height too, so the table setting didn’t block any views for conversation.
There were a few stems left over and I put them in the ceramic owl vase from Target.
Have you entertained lately? Or do you have a favorite flower you like to use for centerpieces and decor?
