This basket is another inexpensive Goodwill find. I love the chevron-esque pattern of the weave.
Unfortunately, the tree did not survive so the basket was out of commission. When I used it to store towels for guests in the bedroom, it just seemed like it needed a little something.
It was really easy to do. I taped off the lower section using Frog Tape (but you definitely could free hand it) and brushed Behr’s Ultra White paint in semi gloss over the taped off area. There are a variety of colors and patterns to try. You could dip the top of the basket and leave the bottom natural. I love the look. It’s an easy, fresh way to update an old basket.
This is my second attempt at the ‘dipped’ effect and I like it just as much as did with my first, a dipped bowl. Do you have any old baskets that need updating? What do you think of the ‘dipped’ effect?

What a perfect, simple idea that took that basket up a hundred notches. Love! Pinning this.
So easy and so much better! Thanks.

Great idea! (I’m a little late, lol!) Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I really like this idea. I have a basket that will definitely be receiving a “dip”.
