Today marks my 250th post! In the past, I have arranged for guest posts to mark the occasion (see those here) but instead, today we will all be guests as we take a little peek into someone else’s home.
I think there are a lot of households out there with these armoires. They seem to be leftover from the days when we hid our big, tube televisions in furniture. Now that tvs are thinner, smaller, and can easily be mounted on the wall, many of these armoires have been put out to pasture.
I got really excited to see how a friend easily repurposed hers from merely housing an old television to being a swanky dressing space in the master bedroom sitting area.
The main change was switching out the solid back board for pegboard instead. She had a piece cut at the local home improvement store and mounted it to the back of the armoire. Then, she added pegboard hooks to store scarves, belts, and necklaces.
Next, she moved her jewelry boxes and displays in and set up shop. I loved this idea. It’s great to have all your accessories easily seen and accessible in one place. There’s even room to store additional bags and purses. And if it ever starts to look a little messy, you can just shut the doors!
If you do this at home, you could also mount a mirror in your new dressing space or even paint the pegboard a fun color to coordinate with the rest of the room. There are so many possibilities. Thanks so much to Shells for allowing us in for a visit!
How do you store your jewelry and accessories? Do you have an old armoire to repurpose? We have one that used to hold the old tv, but we’ve added shelves to it and now use it to store books and bags.

Love It….Thank you for the inspiration Jae!!!!
We repurposed ours and placed it our guest room. It now holds towels, toiletries, etc. It never had any doors. The area where the TV was now is used for such items as an ice bucket, water pitcher and glasses and a bottle of wine! Fun piece and very handy!
