This is another project inspired by of the Pinterest challenge which has basic rules: produce something of your own inspired by something you have pinned. Last year, I made my own word art for the kitchen based on a phrase I pinned. By coincidence, this year I also tackled another piece of art.
I pinned this colorful, watercolor print from Etsy months ago. Isn’t it beautiful?!
For my own version, I decided to use acrylic paint on canvas. I drew the basic outline of the fish body and tail with a pencil, but I didn’t pre-plan anything, I just mixed and decided colors for the ‘scales’ as I went. It took about an hour to paint my own version of a colorful fish body and tail on the 12 x 20 canvas. I was in a zone and didn’t take any pictures of my layout or process. Here’s the finished piece.
I am in the midst of creating a gallery wall in the basement entryway and already planned for this piece to hang there! More details coming soon.
Have you created any masterpieces lately? It’s really fun and personal to create your own works of art.
