Who knew I’d have such fun changing up the mantel for the seasons? Last fall was the first time I’d ever even attempted ‘seasonal’ decorating. Turns out it’s nice to have a small surface to change up every now and then.
This past winter, I added white pumpkins and old books to the mantel for a ‘wintry’ feel. Now that sunshine is lasting longer and the plants outside are getting ready to bloom, it was time for the wintry look to go. But I still love white so I had to keep a little of it in the mix. I just made a few small changes with things I already had to bring in a touch of spring.
Ironically, my spring greenery is semi-fake. That’s by design though, since the living room does not have enough natural light for real plants. I borrowed the blank canvas from the basement entry and hung my preserved boxwood wreath over it.
Incidentally, preserved boxwood is a great alternative for those with a black thumb or for rooms with little natural light. It looks and feels real because it IS real. It just needs misting every so often and needs to be kept out of direct sunlight.
I placed a small faux succulent next to the antlers and another one under a cloche. I also added in the disco ball!
I made one other wreath change in the hallway too. I moved the egg wreath (hung over a mirror in the guest room last year) to the coat closet door in the foyer.
It’s so cute and adds a nice flair.
So those are my small spring updates, at least indoors. We are also making some changes in the yard, just need to take some pictures and share soon.
How are you getting ready for spring?
