Several years ago, we purchased two Adirondack chairs. I can’t even remember where we got them (maybe it was Hobby Lobby) but I remember that the unfinished wood came in pieces and we had to put them together. I put them both together and even primed one, but then they just sat for awhile, at first in the garage and then, outside.
They are still sturdy and solid so it made sense to use them on the freshly painted deck. I just renewed them with a few coats of spray paint. I used Krylon’s Fusion spray paint in navy blue gloss. The can says “no sanding or priming” so I just cleaned the debris from the chair and sprayed. The primed white chair came out with a more glossy finish while the unfinished wood chair has a more matte finish, even though I used the same paint.
I really like the addition of blue out on the deck. I temporarily dragged my ceramic garden stool out from the living room to see how it worked with the chairs. It’s going back inside, but I think I’ve convinced myself to get got another one!
I used three cans of spray paint for each chair and it took about an hour overall one afternoon. I’m glad I was able to use furniture we already had. Next, I’ll look for some I found some outdoor pillows to provide some cushion from the hard wood. This little deck makeover is coming right along. And it’s nice to have it ready to enjoy the results of our next project: landscaping the yard.
Have you refreshed any old pieces? Or spruced up any outdoor spaces?

Your chairs look great!
Thanks! Your back porch does too. Those curtains were a fabulous touch.
Planning on doing a little painting outside this week too if the rain lets up. Love that punch of color!
Hi! Visiting from Outdoor Extravaganza. I love your Adirondack chairs!! Nothing quite says summer like a blue Adirondack. We have two sets of two… one pair is dark blue and the other a brighter blue. Gotta love ’em!
