In keeping with our theme of Before & Afters this week , I have a brand new space to share! Earlier this year, I felt my friend’s excitement as she started planning to remodel her kitchen. Just like I had been eagerly awaiting my kitchen remodel last year, she had been eagerly anticipating the time she could revamp her builder grade kitchen.
They have lived in this home for about 14 years and the thermafoil cabinets were so past their prime. The cabinets were originally white but they had yellowed over time. The thermafoil finish was also starting to peel. The island did not work for their family and made it inconvenient for more than one person to operate in the space.
They worked with a custom cabinet builder and outfitted their kitchen with new cabinets and in a darker finish! The refrigerator was also relocated from the back wall to the right side of the space with an additional set of cabinets along the previously empty wall.
The space isn’t quite finished because they plan to install a backsplash next, but let’s take a look at the AFTER:
Isn’t that a dramatic difference? My favorite parts are the finished look of the detailed side moldings on the end cabinets and the new beverage center underneath the microwave. The homeowners are planning for a dramatic backsplash surrounding the venthood that will go all the way to the ceiling. I hope to share once it’s completed!
Let’s take one more look:
Did you notice the wall color didn’t even change?

Love It….
Love that table! Dramatic transformation.
Amazing!
Thanks to Southern Hospitality for linking up to you. You have a beautiful home. Curious… what is the wall color? I’m considering repainting in the near future and love that color.
Thanks Blondie. Are you referring to the wall color for the kitchen in this post? I will ask my friend and get back with you!
Blondie, the color was chosen 14 years ago and the name is “Thyme” by Behr.
Very nice… I’m looking at Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams. Not 100% decided yet.
