My starting point for the gift basket was a simple glass pitcher I picked up from Marshall’s. I thought it would be great to pair it with ingredients that would enable my friends to whip up a quick batch of cocktails.
I included a recipe for the classic French 75, fun mustache drink markers, the glass pitcher, a bottle of champagne, limes, and a bottle of gin. I also added a touch of shimmer with the glittery letter A for their last name.
Did you catch the monogram on the front of the pitcher? My favorite part of putting this together was personalizing the pitcher by etching the glass.
To make sure I had the method down properly, I practiced on one of my own stemless wine glasses. I’m glad I did because I actually began the project with the wrong set of stencils. The stencils I originally bought weren’t ideal for glass since they were paper and did not adhere to the rounded shape.
I ended up buying the adhesive stencil set from Michael’s instead. They are plastic and fit to rounded surfaces. They worked out perfectly.
Supplies needed for etched glass:
- rubbing alcohol, Q-tips
- Martha Stewart etching cream
- Martha Stewart adhesive stencils
- Glassware
Clean the area you want to etch with alcohol first. Once dry, place the adhesive stencils on the glass. Brush the etching cream on the surface, making sure there is a thick layer. Allow the cream to sit for at least 20 to 30 minutes. Remove the stencil and wash the cream away with water.
This is a fun project! I look forward to personalizing even more glass for myself and for gifts. Have you used etching cream? Or have you personalized gifts in another way?

Absolutely love this idea!! Great gift idea and great way to personalize an item. Wil be pinning this:)!!
thanks!
I like it! And even simple gifts seem so much better with just a little personalization!
My husband’s best friend married my best friend (whom I met through the guys) earlier this year and I had the opportunity to make the groomsmen gifts by etching the guys’ nicknames on big beer mugs. And the guys loved them! (I had already made one for the groom for his bachelor party. I guess he liked the idea!)
The Martha Stewart self-adhesive stencils and the etching cream really are great!
How awesome of you!
What a fun gift basket! I love how the etched monogram turned out.
Thanks Kristin!
