Here’s a nice way to dress up a plain dish towel. This takes about 5 minutes tops and a monogrammed dish towel would make a great gift.
I had a pack of blue and white dish towels from Ikea (they are just $3.99 for four towels) and just used one of them for the project. I bought iron on letters. There are a variety of styles to choose from but I wanted large block letters. I folded the towel in the way I wanted it to hang from the dishwasher handle so I could see where to place the letter. Then I just cut out the letter V and placed it on the towel.
I ironed in a circular fashion for 45 seconds on side and flipped it over for 25 seconds on the other side. After ironing, you just peel back the adhesive paper and voila!
Take another look at this idea, with napkins used as guest towels, over at House of Earnest. So simple, yet makes a nice impact!

Great idea Jae. Never tried monogramming. Adding it to my list of project wannabes.
