I love pretty containers and have small, catch-all containers in almost every room of the house. Here, I’ve created my own geode topped box for jewelry.
This is such an easy DIY project that anyone can do. There are only 3 steps.
1. Find a pretty rock. I already had a variety at home and tried them out atop the box beforehand to see which shape and color I liked the best. The one I chose to use is a small geode cracked in half but you can see in the picture above, I tried pyrite, quartz, and agate too.
2. Find a plain box. The light blue ceramic box is from Target a few months back but you could also use a lacquer, resin, or wood box.
3. Secure the rock to the lid of the box. I used industrial strength glue and allowed it to dry for 24 hours.
The options for customizing and tailoring it to your own tastes are endless! It would also be a lovely project to make for a friend and give as a gift. Will you give it a try?

this is a great idea, you make things look so easy. one thing i love about your blog is that you so often show how you can transform something plain into something useful and pretty. makes it a lot more fun to shop at someplace like goodwill which I would normally hate. I would love to be able to make something for someone, so I will try this one along with the mercury glass!
Thank you! I hope you do try it and let me know how yours turns out!
Genius! That covers it!!! SIMPLY GENIUS!
