Remember that I’m working on the master bathroom? No? It’s probably because despite the fact that I have a list, I haven’t been very focused lately. I’ve been a little all over the place. Sometimes it just takes one thing to inspire you again so here’s hoping that this rug switch out will get the ball rolling.
If you recall, our master shower is open. It doesn’t have a door.
We like it that way and it really doesn’t cause any problems with one small exception. We have a rug placed right at the edge of the shower so that we don’t step out onto a slippery floor. That rug gets a little more water action than your average bathmat. I’ve been using bamboo bath mats in this spot (I found them at Marshalls on clearance for $3 so I bought three at one time) but after some time, they ended up looking like this.
Gross.
I was going to try a regular, cloth, washable, mat there until I saw this wood rug at Target.
I like it because it’s already a light color, so the stain shouldn’t fade away. It doesn’t have a fabric backing to trap moisture like the bamboo mat did.
Here’s how it looks up close:
We shall see how it goes. Do you have any experience with wood rugs?

I like the mat!
i like the replacement. (used something similar as a wall hanging on my deck-nice as art work)
I had a bath mat like your wood rug, except made out of recycled flip flops, in my college bathroom. I thought it would last forever but unfortunately the piece connecting the flip-flop pieces was metal and rusted by the end of the year. Hope yours is made out of something more waterproof!
