Last weekend, John & Sherry from YoungHouseLove were in town for the Haven conference. And true to form, as they mention on their blog, they showed up with camera in hand and house crashed us!
When Sherry first replied that they were definitely coming, I was excited but not overly so. I didn’t go a little crazy until she called to let me know they were running late. For some reason, at that point, I began to get very nervous. I started second guessing myself for volunteering and looked at everything in our house with a SUPER critical eye. I even debated canceling at the last minute. I made a mental note not to voluntarily invite cameras to tour the entire house again any time soon, fixed myself a cocktail, and rolled with it!
Katie B. came with them and she and Sherry were easy going and chatty so I think it turned out not to be as bad as I convinced myself it was going to be. John was the photographer and Katie and Sherry did the ‘interviewing’.
Sherry noticed our laundry room light fixture.
What about you? Would you invite cameras to your home? I have to say, it was more nerve racking then I thought it would be. Ah well, it’s all over now!

Not in a million years….don’t get me wrong…I love my digs…just not enough to have them flying all over the www. Congrats to you though:-)….and I do love that light fixture!!
Just found your site through YHL! Congrats on the feature house crashing! BTW, I love, love, love that you use so much color in your house. All this white washed stuff that’s been going around in mags and blogs has me bored. Your house is so refreshing and Sherry really nailed it when she said it give you the happies when you walk in. Can’t wait to do some more snooping around your blog.
Hi Jae, I saw your house on YHL and I just wanted to tell you that your house crash is the first one I have ever seen them share that actually included ideas I think I could realistically implement in my own home that would look nice AND win my husband’s approval. I’m so glad you participated. I really like how your trim/excessive wood molding in the living room turned out with the dark brown paint in the middle. It looks really elegant in the pictures and I want to try something like that in our home office.
Congrats on the house crashing! You have absolutely nothing to be nervous about. Your house is gorgeous and full of personality. Thank you for volunteering to share it. Now, off to gather ideas for our home from your site. 🙂
Congrats to you and your house is beautiful! No need to be nervous. Seriously you’ve got style and spunk. I loved all the pics!
just found you from YHL! Looove your home!! Started to read this and clicked on Katie’s link—but it takes you to a weird website!! LOL! Thanks for sharing your home, i’m going to add you to my read list. Cant’ wait to see what else you have in store for us! Looking forward to reading more!!
Your home is BEAUTIFUL!!! Although I could see how this could be nerve racking – you had absolutely nothing to worry about. Still gawking at the photos. Nice job!
Beautiful house – nicely done. The colors are really great!
Thank you. I had braced myself for the less the kind comments. You all are so nice.
Coming over from YHL….I love your home. The dining room (the color, the rehabbed chairs) made me fall in love! Adding you to my Reader 😉
Thanks Danni. The chairs were really easy!
I just found you through YHL and had to stop by because I loved your home. So, no worries it turned out beautifully! (And, yes, it’s my dream to have someone want to photograph my home.)
Your house is great! I see why you were nervous, but honestly have no reason to be. I love that your house is full color! I love the red and turqouise! 2 of my fave colors but I never would have put them together….I LOVE IT! Beautiful home.
I love your bedroom and that wall that you put up to break up the space behind the bed? Genius! I showed it to my husband that night and it actually got a “Hmmm…I like that!” So who knows if it will make an appearance in our space someday? Your house is beautiful.
My best, Lynn
If you do it, please send me a pic!
So I am finally putting two and two together! After meeting you on Saturday and finding out you were the one who was going to come thrifting, then realizing I had read this post where YHL crashed you. Wow! So glad to have met you and figure everything out. Having fun reading through your blog and checking out your pretty house!
