For the past several years, I’ve picked up a few of Pottery Barn’s glitter monogram ornaments when they come out in the winter. I’ve given some away as gifts and kept a few for myself. Since I usually get a few every year, I’ve noticed that they may vary slightly. One year they used black ribbon, while another year they used white ribbons. One year the lettering was in black, while another year the lettering was in red. The German glass glitter on the ornaments remains a constant though. It’s really beautiful and it develops a patina over time while still remaining glittery.
I use them all year round. I have two hanging on our bedside lamps, ‘marking’ our sides of the bed.
In the foyer, I have one hanging on the gallery wall amidst the frames.
This year, I stopped in to pick up a few and found they had changed the design altogether. I think I love this version even more. The entire thing is made of German glass glitter and instead of a ribbon they used a piece of jute. I added one to my ‘fall’ mantel.
With the addition of sparkle to that side of the mantel, I added another spray painted pumpkin and a cracked mirror ball (used recently in a table setting) to the other side and proclaimed this new version to be the look for winter. That little “Be Festive, Be Fabulous” card came with some earrings I ordered from Stella & Dot.
To refresh your memory, here’s the ‘fall’ version:
The monogram ornaments would be super easy to make yourself too! Are there certain products you return to? Do find other uses for things that are supposed to be seasonal?
