Everyone seems to love before and after pictures. Sometimes it’s just crazy to look at the pictures of how things were before. So this week is THE week of befores and afters on the blog. I’ll feature the befores and afters of the spaces in our home and a new kitchen feature!
First up, our living room. This room had pale green paint on the top half of the walls and orangey-walnut stained wood on the bottom half of the wall. Oh and we can’t forget the stained carpet.
In the first phase, the carpet was ripped up and we installed new wood flooring. The walls also got a coat of bright yellow paint.
And here’s how the living room looks today.
Even though the natural wood trim remains (a request from the husband) the new paint color and light rug make it feel less dated and a little more modern.
Next is the dining room. When we first moved in, this room displayed pink wall paper above the chair rail and more carpet. I really don’t get carpet in a dining room. It doesn’t make practical sense.
We replaced that carpet with the same wood flooring used in the living room. And I painted the walls red! But things still weren’t quite right.
The red walls remain but I switched out the furniture. I added a black, round pedestal table and a cowhide rug.
This look is just much more my style and feels comfortable! Do you love before and afters too? Have any great ones to share?

Love the cowhide rug added to the dining room. Very “earthy” and eclectic!
Love your blog!
Great makeover!
Thanks Beth!
